Paul supporters gear up for GOP state meeting

"Ron Paul people are just principled people. They don't mind losing a fair fight," he said.
A vocal group of Republican activists coordinated by Paul supporter Debra Medina of Wharton County has taken a stand before the convention with a lawsuit against the Texas Republican Party to try to force the election of a chairman before convention business is conducted.
The activist group wants to debate at the convention challenges to some 200 delegates from around the state. It contends there were numerous rules violations at the local level.
"If Ron Paul says anything, he says follow the Constitution. And we say follow the rules," Medina said.

Letter One: Ron Paul

Our forefathers are actually the reason I’m writing you today; the reason that I’ve recently found within me the resolution to speak out, even with a limited voice. By basing your campaign on the constitutional principles that our forefathers fought and died for you’ve inspired me, and I’m sure many like me, to speak out. It’s not enough to simple accept what is happening and turn a deaf ear to our responsibilities as knowledgeable Americans. We owe it to those that sacrificed everything to try to regain what is being taken from us.

Wear Black for Leviathan's Funeral

Meanwhile, LRC has been instrumental in launching and sustaining the lew rockwellpresidential bid of Ron Paul, who currently has one of the best-selling books in the country and who has set in motion a revolution that the GOP and the "respectable" types are desperate to keep bottled up. Dr. Paul has, in a year and a half, undoubtedly instilled libertarianism, or at least the seeds of it, into the minds of millions. How many converts have the "respectable" think tanks won during their entire existence? How many Americans are inspired to get off their rear ends and do seemingly crazy things for the sake of the Kochtopus?

Why Did the Dollar Drop and Oil Surge Yesterday?

As Ron Paul pointed out last night at the wonderful FFF conference on lrc blogforeign policy and civil liberties, it's because of the latest threat to attack Iran. There are always the Fed's monetary debasement, the gas-guzzling wars, and taxes and restrictions on oil, of course. By the way, why are the frightening calls for energy autarky--that is, destruction of part of the division of labor--by McCain and the other neocons--never even controversial? Of course, protectionism and fascism have always gone hand in hand.

Ron Paul Revolution?

We all know the kind of success Ron Paul had during the presidential primaries: he organized a legion of followers with unparalleled levels of commitment and passion, not to mention outfundraising nearly every other Republican candidate. By the same token, he never translated his organization into electoral victory. But it's become apparent to me recently that the Ron Paul revolution is alive and well, and the implications could be far-reaching for the GOP.

John McCain has been called someone that takes a stand. When Ron nolanPaul defeated him handedly in the Republican debates, all McCain did was sneer and snicker at him. Did he reach over and shake Ron's hand? Did he ever say, hey Ron, I may not agree with you, but I respect your right to free speech? Did he ever say, Ron, you have some good points, maybe I should reconsider my stance on some of these issues? The "Maverick" never made a stand for Ron Paul or his supporters. A Court Victory for [Ron Paul] Republicans in Texas

Wednesday afternoon in Harris County Texas, Judge Tom Sullivan issued a temporary restraining order to a group of Republican delegates and bc politicsparty officials seeking to force the state Republican convention to comply with Texas election law and elect officers for the convention before conducting other convention business.
While many of those involved in the suit were activists associated with the Ron Paul campaign, the suit also attracted many concerned mainstream Republicans and party officials who believe that the way that state conventions have been run in the past gives too much power to entrenched interests and limits the input of the party rank and file.
While this ruling certainly marks a major victory for Ron Paul supporters and other pro-liberty activists in a primary season which has given them much frustration, it is also a necessary response to long-standing problems in the Texas Republican Party which have limited participation and tightly limited power to an elite faction largely dominated by the religious right.

Why Ron Paul Won in 2008

Ron Paul won in 2008, by taking the Ron-Paul-071807exact opposite approach of most politicians. Instead of coalition building, compromising, pandering and standing for nothing and everything at the same time, Paul explicitly denounced the problems we have created and boldly proclaimed the solutions found in freedom and liberty. Ron Paul has mobilized many in the coming generation to build a better future. This long-term investment may not have resulted in an immediate gratification, but over time, compounded with interest, this movement may very well pay off.

The Mises Review - The Revolution: A Manifesto

The Revolution: A ManifestoThe Iraq war has not only caused death and ludwig von misesdestruction abroad. It hasthe revolutiondamaged our civil liberties at home. The "misnamed Patriot Act" (p. 114), as Paul aptly terms this nefarious piece of legislation, allows the administration to arrest and hold without trial anyone it wishes, not excepting American citizens. Were not such lettres de cachet a cause of the French Revolution? Even John Ashcroft, hardly a civil libertarian, had before his accession to the cabinet condemned measures like those he was later to enforce. "While a U.S. Senator during the Clinton years, Ashcroft warned about proposed invasions of privacy" (p. 117). Paul, not content with criticism, has proposed concrete legislation to end this outrage.
Ron Paul's outstanding book is must reading for everyone who values liberty.

That way, challenges to more than 200 convention delegates can be fully debated and fairly resolved, Medina said. Typically, the state party waits until the second day of the convention to select a chairman, she said.

McCain's Last, Best Hope: Ron Paul

With or without Hillary Clinton, last night made it clear that McCain is aol newsbadly outgunned against Obama. I'm going to assume Hillary will be the VP, because only a complete moron would pass that ticket up. McCain's only prayer is to make Ron Paul his VP.
Ron Paul also brings credibility on the economy, as more people will remember him pantsing McCain at the Reagan Library than will know the details of his economic plan. He's also respected by non-supporters as a truly principled conservative, another weakness for McCain, who flips like a football referee's quarter.
But the biggest impact Ron Paul will have on McCain's candidacy will be in the debates. It's a given that Obama will make McCain look ridiculous in them, but Hillary Clinton will kick most Republicans around like hard dog crap in the Vice Presidential debates. Paul is the only GOP candidate remotely qualified to go toe-to-toe with either of them. Maybe McCain can "faint" before his debates and let the doctor go to work

Paul vs. Rove treatment is telling

Regarding the state Republican Party convention being held in postbulletinRochester, two facts are particularly telling: party leaders have refused to allow Congressman Ron Paul the opportunity to speak to the delegates, yet they specially invited "GOP strategist" Karl Rove to address them.
Agree with him or not, no one would dispute that Paul holds scrupulous ethics and consistent principles. In contrast, Rove is the poster child of all that is wrong with politics today -- unethical, unscrupulous, and a cynical stop-at-nothing-to-win mentality. It speaks volumes about the party that it would snub Paul and honor Rove.
Yet more evidence of how far the once-proud and progressive Republican Party of Minnesota has fallen. Very sad.

The truth is most farmers simply want honest pay for honest work. texas straight talkHowever, if the government is providing competing farms with advantages, and one wants to remain a farmer, one must seek a proportional advantage from government. It is a difficult position for the farmer. Some are better at qualifying for taxpayers’ largesse than others as evidenced by the fact that more than 60% of the subsidies go to just 10% of recipients, edging out the small family farm. This entire system is unfair and demoralizing. It disproportionately benefits big agribusiness at the expense of struggling family farms.

That's why I recommend Ron Paul's 167 page book 'The Revolution: A Manifesto', over Boortz and Linder's FairTax book. It's not a FairTax: it's a federal enslavement tax, exactly the same as the income tax is today.
